Hospital Births

When planning a hospital birth, clients need to check with the Labor & Delivery floor to confirm the details of their release policy. Most of the St.Louis area hospitals have a simple release form that needs to be signed. After the birth and exam, the placenta is packaged in a plastic bag or small plastic bucket. I encourage clients to take along a small cooler with them to the hospital to store the placenta and keep it cool until I can arrive. Once you let me know that baby has arrived I will make arrangements to come meet you. Usually it is within just a few hours of your call. I'll take it home and get to work. I will bring the finished capsules back to you, either to the hospital or to your home, depending on the length of your hospital stay.
Mothers who have cesarean section births benefit greatly from encapsulation too. There has rarely been an issue with a client keeping her placenta after surgery, you just need to let the hospital staff know your intentions.
